Pilates Mat Classes

PLEASE READ - Booking Policy:

Sorry, but refunds cannot be issued for classes missed. If you cannot attend your booked class for whatever reason, you are welcome to attend an alternate class before the end of the paid term, space permitting. Check with Maria for options available.

When signing up for Online classes, you wil receive access to a recording of your class to allow you to practice as often as you like between real time classes.

What Can I Expect?

What to wear: Clothing should be comfortable and easy to move in e.g. jogging pants and a long or short sleeved top. Shoes are not required - you can wear socks or go barefoot – you choose. If practical, please come ready changed into your workout attire whilst COVID guidelines remain in place.  There are changing facilities availalbe to use should you need to use them.

What Should I Bring: Just yourself and your own bottle of drinking water.  All mats and any small equipment used will be provided.

Pilates Matwork classes are a great way of exercising in a group environment in a non-competitive way. Classes last an hour and will progressively advance as the term does. Matwork is the term given to non-equipment based Pilates. You can expect to move on to an Intermediate/Improvers class after completing a Beginners course once you have mastered the fundamentals and get hooked!!  The more classes you attend the more benefit to you and your body.

Do I need to be supple/flexible? Definitley not.

Will I get stronger? That is definitely the plan when you attend our classes, though keep an open mind that everyone learns and changes at their own pace.  So be kind to yourself and aim to work consistently with achievable goals.

Beginners – An ideal starting point for anyone who has never tried Pilates, or wants to return to Pilates after a lengthy break due to injury/illness or pregnancy. The pace is easy is and relaxed allowing you to acquaint yourself with the fundamentals of the exercise technique (as well as your own body). Go on – you just might surprise yourself ...!

Intermediate – Provides you with the opportunity to grow and develop the skills learned in a Beginners programme. The courses consistently change from term to term, providing variety and allowing for a particular emphasis to be explored.

Advanced - A challenging and exciting programme for the more experienced Pilates client. We assume you know what you’re doing... so enjoy!!!

Testimonals

'The wonders of Pilates....My whole body feels better this morning after pilates last night.  My quads are still a bit tired from the 10k but I feel so much better after your class.  What you have us do fits in really well with the other exercise I do.' Caroline
